ALLISON FALL

Studio 355 founder and owner, Allison Fall, has taught Pilates, internationally, for over 20 years, having always had a natural gift for learning and teaching movement. She studied dance as a child, and then, while still in her teens, started teaching it to others.

In 1998, while recovering from injuries sustained as a professional dancer for the Columbus Dance Theater and The Dance Cure, Allison discovered Pilates, which she found to be both deeply helpful in her recovery, and a richly rewarding movement method, in its own right. In fact, she was so taken with it that she decided to pursue serious training in the practice, which she did with her own characteristically intense level of commitment:

She studied and was certified in New York City, at Core Pilates. She then continued her studies by pursuing in-depth training and education with the masterful Peter Roel, for whom she also worked as a teacher, at the Pilates Shop Yoga Garage (NYC).  Allison went on to teach at Frog Temple Pilates, in Chicago, and at the Arcoverde Pilates Zentrum, in Berlin.

Her experience of using Pilates to recover from serious dance injuries gave her a unique understanding of the power of using Pilates as part of a holistic approach to healing, and this has become one of her personal specialties.  She loves working with all types of body-issues and physical challenges, and has a special expertise in helping people in the areas of post-rehab, prenatal, and post-natal care, and with many different types of chronic illnesses.

She is grateful to have helped numerous people, who had been given grim prognoses by the medical establishment, to miraculously (at least according to the doctors) heal and regain full function. She finds it deeply fulfilling to have been told many times, by many clients, different versions of: "You’re healed my body! You saved my life!"

While in Germany, Allison also committed to the discipline of Ashtanga yoga, and received her Ashtanga Yoga certification with Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty at Ashtanga Yoga Berlin.

And she is a highly skilled instructor of the MELT Method (and "MELTed Pilates"), which she loves incorporating into her holistic approach. (She earned the highest level of certification in MELT -- level 5 -- by training, in person, with Sue Hitzmann, creator of this innovative and ground-breaking approach to relaxing the body’s whole myofascial system.)

During her lifelong pursuit of movement practice, performance, and instruction, Allison also engaged in an extensive academic study of both performing and fine arts, earning a BFA in ceramics at Ohio State University, and an MFA at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a focus in performance, sculpture, and ceramics.

10 years ago, in Northern California, Allison founded Studio 355, a beautiful, spacious, and well-equipped center for the learning and practice of Pilates, the MELT Method, and her holistic approach to healing exercise and movement. She is very grateful to have a thriving practice, full of loyal and devoted students, many of whom credit her with making a huge difference in their total health and well-being.
